Overview

The Kathmandu Holidays Tour with Sacred Trails is a full-day guided cultural experience through the capital’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This one-day city tour offers an in-depth look at Hindu and Buddhist spiritual heritage, ancient royal palaces, and vibrant local life — ideal for first-time visitors with limited time in Nepal.

Outline Itinerary

Your guide will meet you at your hotel. Begin with a short drive to Swayambhunath Stupa, perched atop a hill offering sweeping views of the Kathmandu Valley. Walk around the Buddhist stupa, prayer wheels, and observe monkeys and local devotees.
Head to the heart of old Kathmandu to visit Durbar Square. Explore temples like Taleju, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, and the Kumari Ghar (home of the living goddess). Learn about Malla-era architecture and historical kings.
Arrive at Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal’s most important Hindu site on the banks of the Bagmati River. Learn about cremation rituals, the role of sadhus (holy men), and Hindu philosophy. Foreigners are not allowed inside the main temple, but views from across the river are excellent.
Take a break for lunch at a nearby café or rooftop restaurant with stupa views in the Boudhanath area. Meals not included but recommendations provided by your guide.
Walk clockwise around the massive Boudhanath Stupa, a major Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage site. Observe monks chanting in monasteries, butter lamps, and prayer flags fluttering in the breeze.
Your driver will drop you back to your hotel or take you to Thamel for optional souvenir shopping or local walk. Tour ends by late afternoon.
